Fifth Third to Expand Presence in Atlanta
with Branch Purchase from First Horizon


Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ: FITB) announced today that it is acquiring 9 branch locations in Atlanta, GA, from First Horizon National Corporation (NYSE: FHN).

Combined with the two branches Fifth Third will acquire in the pending acquisition of First Charter Corporation (NASDAQ: FCTR), this purchase would give Fifth Third 11 locations in the greater Atlanta area. The First Horizon Atlanta franchise currently has loans of approximately $200 million and deposits of approximately $150 million. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008.
