Amway River Bank Run
Founded in 1978, the Amway River Bank Run has become the nation's largest 25K road race—with 21,000 participants and 40,000 spectators from 40 states and 5 countries—and has been the site of the 25K USA National Championships for Men and Women since 1995. The event also holds a 5K and 10K run as well as a 5K Walk. Fifth Third is also the 25K event sponsor, the original distance of the race at its origin.
Fifth Third Bank is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Amway River Bank Run, helping to bring tourism, charitable contributions, and some healthy competition to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Seeing another opportunity to improve the lives of our customers and Western Michigan community, we pioneered the River Bank Run Feelin' Good Mileage Club, an incentive-based program to motivate kids to stay active.
The Amway River Bank Run was founded to bring economic vitality to Western Michigan:
- Each year, tourism produces nearly $2 million in revenue for area merchants.
- Since the start of the Charity Partner Program in 2009, more than $1.5 million has been raised to support Michigan-based non-profit organizations.
