Loan Payment Hardship Concerns

Policies are in place to help address shutdown-related hardship concerns related to any loan or credit solution at Fifth Third, including auto loans, credit cards and loans secured by real estate. If you are experiencing shutdown-related hardship with a Fifth Third loan or credit solution, now or in the future, please contact us:

  • For personal loans and credit solutions, call 866-601-6391 from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET, Mon.–Fri., and from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. ET, Sat.
  • For mortgage loans and lines of credit, call 866-601-6391 from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET, Mon.–Fri.
  • For Business Banking support, call 877-534-2264 from 7 a.m.–10 p.m. ET, Mon.–Fri., and 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. ET, Sat. Or email bbgsupport@53.com.


There are a number of different potential options, depending on the type of loan you have. You may choose to apply for a hardship application. When we receive your application, we will review it for eligibility and determine which solutions best fit your circumstances. Some of the solutions available include:

  • The interest rate may be lowered.
  • The term of the loan may be extended.
  • The principal of your balance may be reduced.

 You can complete an online application to apply for hardship assistance.

Deposit Accounts

If you have a checking account or other deposit accounts with Fifth Third, we are also available to discuss your situation. Customer Support Representatives are available at 800-972-3030 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Saturdays to answer your questions. These representatives will be able to direct you to the teams that can assist you, which may include relief for overdraft or other fees you may be incurring because of the furlough.
