Fifth Third Direct is a secure online platform that provides consolidated access to a comprehensive suite of services and solutions that make managing your organization’s finances easier. With visibility into your accounts from anywhere, you can make more informed decisions, stay on top of your daily cash flow, and run your business effectively and efficiently.
If you use Comerica Business Connect today or have complex financial needs requiring the power of our commercial-grade online platform, your online services will transition to Fifth Third Direct on September 8, 2026.
Friday, August 7
- “Freeze period” begins. Changes made in Comerica Business Connect after this date will not be reflected in the transition to Fifth Third Direct.
Wednesday, August 19
- Fifth Third Direct preview period begins. See details below.
- Fifth Third Direct platform training is available.
- Enter any user or template changes that have been made in Comerica Business Connect after August 7, 2026. Continue to make any new user or template changes in both Comerica Business Connect and Fifth Third Direct until September 8, 2026.
Thursday, September 3
- Access to real-time payments through Comerica Treasury Payments ends at 9:00 p.m. ET.
- The receipt of Instant Payments through both the RTP® Network and FedNow® Service will be unavailable beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.
- The ability to receive funds through the FedNow Service will remain unavailable to clients until further notice. The ability to receive funds through the RTP Network is expected to be restored on September 7.
Friday, September 4
- Access to Comerica Business Connect becomes unavailable at 11:59 p.m. ET.
- Final cutoff times for transactions through Comerica:
- Wire transactions – 6:15 p.m. ET
- ACH transactions – 10:00 p.m. ET
Saturday, September 5-Monday, September 7
- Comerica Business Connect services remain unavailable throughout Labor Day weekend.
- Our call centers will remain open on Saturday and Monday during Labor Day weekend if you need information or assistance.
Tuesday, September 8
- Full access to accounts and services through Fifth Third Direct begins.
Access and capabilities
- You will have access to your accounts and most of the treasury management and commercial payments services you use through Fifth Third Direct following transition weekend.
- You’ll find features and capabilities similar to those you use today.
- Some workflows will look or behave differently on Fifth Third Direct than they do on Comerica Business Connect.
Authentication tokens
- For your security, authentication tokens are required for money movement transactions and access to mobile banking. If you do not subscribe to those functions you will not receive a token.
- If you use a hard token, you will receive a new hard token to use with Fifth Third Direct. If you haven’t already received it, look for your new hardware token, it will be mailed to the address on file in early August.
- If you use a software token, you’ll need to download a new soft token by following the instructions on the screen when logging in for the first time.
Mobile app
- If you use Treasury Mobile, your mobile access will move to the Fifth Third Direct mobile app when it becomes available.
- Mobile login credentials will be the same as your login credentials for Fifth Third Direct. Please see “Getting Started” section for first-time login details.
- Saved favorites will not be transferred but you can recreate them in Fifth Third Direct following the transition.
Payment Templates
- Active Treasury Payments templates, file import profiles, recurring payment schedules, approval groups and approval profiles will be transferred to Fifth Third Direct for Wire and ACH only. Please review for accuracy and completeness during the Preview period.
- During the preview period, review recurring payment schedules to ensure they are accurate, paying particular attention to payment dates and frequencies. For payments due on or after 9/8/2026, do not manually create a payment until you have validated the payment has not been created in Fifth Third Direct. If the next payment exists, no action required. If the payment does not exist, repair the recurring schedule to generate the next payment.
- Wire—Beneficiary Town/City and Country are required in Fifth Third Direct. Migrated templates that do not include this information should be updated prior to first use.
- ACH—Payroll payments can no longer split a payment into two accounts in a single entry (fixed amount or percentage allocation). Splits must be originated as separate transactions.
- Account Transfers—Only individual account transfer templates are supported in Fifth Third Direct. Many-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many account transfer templates are not supported but will be migrated as individual templates. (Account Transfers will not be available during Preview Period. Customer will need to review and validate Account Transfer entitlements/permissions, templates, approval groups/profiles, recurring schedules and import maps post CD1). Balance changes as a result of account transfers will be reflected once the transaction has completed processing.
- Panel Approvals—Panel Approvals will not be migrated. Work with your relationship team for assistance in creating your Panel Approvals in Fifth Third Direct.
- Only active, approved templates will transfer to Fifth Third Direct. Templates in an Awaiting Approval and Needs Repair status require review and approval to transfer to Fifth Third Direct.
- Administrators should review approval groups and approval profiles during the preview period to confirm routing aligns with your expectations.
Reporting
- Custom reports will not be moved to Fifth Third Direct as part of the transition.
- Work with your relationship team for assistance in using Fifth Third Direct reporting tools and capabilities to ensure your reporting needs are supported.
Alerts
- Some alert types you may currently receive will no longer be available.
- During the preview period, you can use Fifth Third Direct to subscribe to email alerts. Text alerts will not be available.
Data Retention
- Data retention periods may differ from Comerica and vary according to each product.
- Payment history is retained for 12 months on Fifth Third Direct.
- Stop payment history is retained for 6 months on Fifth Third Direct.

Historical data
- Some historical data transitioned from Comerica will be available as early as September 8, 2026. Additional detail will be added over time for your convenience.
- For historical information that is not available through Fifth Third Direct, please contact your relationship team or the Fifth Third Commercial Support Center for assistance.
Import Functionality
- Import profiles will be transitioned, but some import file formats may change to align with Fifth Third specifications. Your import source files may require updates as a result.
First-time login (beginning August 19)
- Log in to Fifth Third Direct at express.53.com and follow the link for transitioning Comerica clients.
- Follow the prompts to establish your new credentials and complete your first time login to Fifth Third Direct.
Preview period (beginning August 19)
- Register for and attend a Fifth Third Direct training webinar.
- Click here to view available training sessions and reserve your spot. Users will receive a training invitation via email with a Preview ID to use when reserving a spot.
- Log in for limited access to Fifth Third Direct (You’ll see your deposit and loan accounts but not balances)
- Activate your authentication tokens (newly issued hard token or downloaded soft token)
- Validate individual user access and key user functions, entitlements and controls prior to September 8 where available.
- Review Treasury Payments templates to confirm accuracy and make changes as need
- Review import profiles and make any necessary updates to file formats to align with Fifth Third specifications.
- Explore the platform, familiarize yourself with navigation, and become comfortable with the Fifth Third Direct user experience.
- Share training resources with other users within your organization and encourage them to log in and complete training prior to go-live.

Mobile app login
- Download the Fifth Third Direct Mobile app from the App Store or Google Play when it becomes available.
- Log in using the same credentials you established to log in to Fifth Third Direct
- Familiarize yourself with the new mobile experience
- Confirm that mobile access aligns with existing user roles and entitlements
- Review and enable mobile notifications to receive alerts for account activity and approval requests
