Wire Transfers

Fifth Third’s wire transfer solution facilitates the movement of funds via a real-time payment mechanism that settles transactions through the Federal Reserve, CHIPS and SWIFT networks.

Wire transfers can be facilitated for domestic, US dollar, international and foreign currency payments. Wire transfers are final irrevocable payments settled individually and continuously throughout the day, providing wire recipients with immediate access to funds.

Key things to know

Online wire origination will transition to Fifth Third Direct, our commercial online banking platform. There are some other changes to processes and deadlines for initiating wires that you need to be aware of following the September 8, 2026 transition to Fifth Third as outlined below.

Important note: On Friday, September 4, 2026, wires sent after 6:15 p.m. ET, will not be processed due to transition weekend activities. Please ensure that you initiate and approve all time-sensitive wires prior to this time.

Wire origination channels

  • Online: Online wire origination is available through Fifth Third Direct.
  • Phone: If you currently use a PIN to initiate commercial wires by phone, you will continue to use this process. A new PIN and related instructions were sent via email. Review these emails for information on changes to the Security Procedures and Service Terms. The Fifth Third Master Treasury Management Agreement will govern use of PIN wires, effective September 8, 2026.
  • Branches: Wires will no longer be available in branches for commercial clients.

  • Email wire advices will continue to be sent with no changes to the current process.
